WHO ARE WE
At Serenity Safe Haven Outpatient Clinic, we understand how mental health, substance abuse and psychiatric conditions can negatively impact families. Some common mental health conditions are depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder for example. We know that these illnesses interfere with our thoughts, feelings and your ability to make good choices.
We also understand that learning that you may have a mental health condition may be hard to take. This news may upset you but don't lose hope. There are a variety of treatments available. Don't be afraid to ask for help. There are many dedicated professionals who are here to support you in all ways possible including psychotherapy, prescription medicine, support groups and other therapies.
Not every treatment works or is necessary for everyone. Some people benefit from a combination of treatments. Your therapist will help you find the right treatment that right for you.

WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT
There are five main aspects of personal health; in order to be considered, "well," it is important for these areas in your life be whole. If any of them are neglected, you will may experience discomfort.
Exercise! A 30-minute walk three times a week will improve your health. Eat healthy. Avoid fried foods, soft drinks ,and processed meats. Try to replace that sweet tooth with more fruits and veggies. Don't skip meals and try to avoid episodic drinking and drug use. Do your best to rest. Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night.
Try to maintain a positive attitude even when problems arise. Find your personal stress relievers. Share openly with people you trust. Smile even when you don't feel like it. Seek professional help when you need it.
Reconnect with family and friends. Get involved in your community. Recognize when you are in an unhealthy relationships and do your best to avoid toxic people. Surround yourself with positive people who support and uplift you. When you need support, reach out for help.
Find a quiet place and spend time there everyday to reconnect and strengthen your spirit. Think about what you expect and want in your life. Be in gratitude. If you have a religion, get involved in community activities. Spend some time nature. Give and receive love.
Read. Journal. Become a life-long learner. Think about something you love and go out to learn more about it. Expand your mind. Look for ways to explore personal achievement and professional success.
Your goal is live in wellness. Wellness is a way of life that promotes optimum health, making responsible decisions and lifestyle choices. If you find that you are unable to do so, you may need support. If you need a place to talk about things like grief, abuse, or help adjusting well to life's changes, you don't have to go it alone. OUR TECHNIQUE
Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with normals stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. ~World Health Organization (WHO)
The WHO stresses that mental health is, "more than just the absence of mental disorders or disabilities." Optimum mental health is about not only avoiding active conditions but also looking at ongoing wellness and happiness.
They also emphasize that preserving and restoring mental health is crucial to an individual, family and communities.

Depending on your situation, therapy can be a fairly short-term or a longer term experience. Often, people see their therapist once a week for 50 minutes. Your first session will be different from future visits because the initial visit could be described as a "get to know you" time. Please see out FAQ for answers to common questions.
You have the right to feel safe and respected in therapy. This is priority for licensed professionals, including respecting your privacy. The same standard applies if you are meeting in a group. Our intention is to address your needs, goals, concerns and desires with comfort.
